We did the Air and Space Museum, American History Museum, Natural History Museum, and the National Portrait Gallery. Air and Space was lots of fun mostly because Dad showed me a whole lot about the physics and engineering of everything that was there. I had so much fun listening and discovering the science of flight! I am so lucky to have an engineer for a dad!!!!!
American History Museum was really cool too but almost half of it was closed until 2015 (Major remolding)!! So I did not get to see the first ladies dresses and Carol Barnett's “Went With the Wind” curtain dress! But we did see Dorothy's shoes and Kermit the Frog!! Also Thomas Edison's phonograph!
The Natural History Museum was so cool because they had ACCUAL MUMMIES! And a mummified bull. I guess when a bull died, the whole city went into mourning. They also had cool dinosaurs. They had this squid that was 25-30 feet long (real Squid)!! if you look at the picture, look WAY down to where the case ends… YES, THAT LONG!!
The National Portrait Gallery had thousands of gorgeous paintings and sculptures. but my favorite part was the American Presidents. We went into an area where we could eat a drink and we realized that it was the area where Lincoln had his 2nd inaugural ball!!
